Membership
Foodways Texas is an organization founded by scholars, chefs, journalists, restaurateurs, farmers, ranchers, and other citizens of the state of Texas who have made it their mission to preserve, promote and celebrate the diverse food cultures of Texas. Become part of a movement to preserve the vibrant foodways of Texas. By joining and supporting Foodways Texas, you become part of a movement to preserve the vibrant foodways of Texas through oral history projects, documentary films, recipe collections, and scholarly research. You will join us in highlighting the state’s distinctive foods and food cultures at our annual scholarly symposium, supporting educational food-based seminars, promoting local food networks, and partnering with universities and other non-profit organizations to educate future generations about our food histories, cultures, and emerging trends.

The Foodways Texas Endowed Excellence Fund and Lifetime Memberships
We are pleased to announce that Foodways Texas donors have established the Foodways Texas Endowed Excellence Fund. This endowment is funded by donors who choose to invest in the Foodways Texas mission by purchasing a Lifetime Membership instead of annually renewing a membership.
Lifetime Member will become part of the inaugural group of “Foodways Texans” beginning in January 2018. The Foodways Texas Excellence Fund will be put in place in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Texas, Austin, to fund oral history interviews and other documentary projects that Foodways Texas undertakes. We are very pleased that Foodways Texas has grown to a point where we have the opportunity to create an endowment to help ensure that this work will continue. We would love for you to join us as a founding member of the Foodways Texans.
What we hope to accomplish with this endowment is to create an opportunity for our friends to give the full measure of their gift directly to Foodways Texas projects. Your interest and participation in Foodways Texas has sustained us and allowed us not only to form and grow but to become a part of the American Studies Department of the University of Texas at Austin, where we are building a robust archive of historical information. We are charting an ambitious course to reach out to and document the lives and practices of those who have been both critical and colorful in our Texas food world.
